GOT THE NO. 1 PICK IN YOUR FANTASY FOOTBALL DRAFT? CONSIDER YOUR OPTIONS

So you have the No. 1 pick in your fantasy football draft this season.
If I was a betting man - and I am - I would wager a bundle that you will be taking Minnesota back Adrian Peterson with that No. 1 pick.
A solid, safe pick if you believe all the hype you read on the fantasy football sites. I even wrote in my blog a week ago that he was a safe No. 1 pick. Don't get me wrong, he is projected to have a big season and following the crowd in this case isn't a bad way to go.
But if you're a serious fantasy football league player, you need to do your homework and be aware of all your options no matter what your first pick might be.

Be advised that there's another choice out there for No. 1, especially if you are in a points-per-reception league. There's a new trend emerging these days........
Supplanting Peterson at No. 1 in many drafts on the Internet, including www.mockdraftcentral.com, is Jacksonville back Maurice Jones Drew.
On the www.cbssports.com site Jones is now projected as the No. 1 back in fantasy football this season. At www.mockdraftcentral.com, he is being drafted anywhere from No. 1 to No. 5 while Peterson is being drafted anywhere from No. 1 to No. 4.

Why is MJD's value rising? The Jaguars released veteran back Fred Taylor in the offseason, allowing Maurice Jones Drew to be the featured back. Despite Taylor's presence he was still a solid back with over 1,000 yards rushing and about nine touchdowns a season. Now his stock rises considerably, despite the fact that Greg Jones could get some goal-line carries.
The plus with MJD is he is also one of the best receiving backs in the league.
Depending on what site you go to, he is projected to get about 1,100 yards rushing with 10 rushing TDs and lead all backs with 62-65 receptions for about 600 yards receiving and 4-5 receiving TDs. Some experts are even predicting 2,000 total yards and 20 total TDs for Maurice Jones Drew.

If you have the No. 1 pick, go ahead....grab Adrian Peterson. But a more secure bet to get the biggest bang for your buck could be Maurice Jones Drew....
I'm just sayin...he's another option.
