Fantasy football: Week 9 injury-waiver update/Sidney Rice update

SIDNEY RICE BREAKING NEWS.....
The Minnesota Vikings web site is reporting that receiver Sidney Rice, who has not played this season due to hip surgery, practice all week and has a shot to play this weekend, albeit in a very limited role. There are reports that the Vikings will have a handful of offensive packages designed specifically for Rice to begin getting him involved in the offense.
This certainly makes sense since receiver Randy Moss has been booted off the team. But be advised.....if he does play this week it will likely be just a few plays so he can get his feet wet....

Injuries continue to linger and pile up in the NFL and with six teams on the bye this week, that is putting many fantasy football teams in a bind.
For example, if you have San Diego tight end Antonio Gates be prepared to find a replacement. He is still bothered by a toe injury and plantar fascia and didn't practice on Friday. It is unlikely that he will play this week.
The guy to pick up as a replacement if he's still on your waiver wire is new starting Indianapolis tight end Jacob Tamme. He is Dallas Clark's replacement and is a lock for double-digit points every week.
Other injuries to monitor are Indianapolis receiver Austin Collie (hand) and New England receiver Deion Branch (hamstring).

Also, Philadelphia receiver DeSean Jackson, who has been recovering from a concussion, has been practicing and is expected to start this week. He is being fitted with a special state-of-the-art helmet to give him added protection in the head area.
