FANTASY FOOTBALL: HASSELBECK RETURNS

About five days ago, media reports stated that Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, who has missed two games with a rib injury, was bent over in pain during practice.
What a difference five days can make?
Apparently.
Hasselbeck has been upgraded from questionable to probable and is expected to start against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
The question is, how effective will he be? How long will it take for his timing plays to be in synch with receivers T.J.l Houshmandzadeh and Deion Branch?

Hasselbeck has apparently thrown away his old flak jacket with a new, state-of-the-art flak jacket to protecdt him better. My advice is to start him if you you don't have better options because the Seahawks will certainly be playing catch up during the game.

The Seahawks' defensive line is still decimated with injuries and last week it allowed Peyton Manning to throw for 353 yards. This should be a shootout and Hasselbeck will likely be chucking the ball more than handing off as the game wears on.

FANTASY FB WEEK 4: FINAL PRE-GAME PLANNER

Some last minute updates.....
Tampa Bay's Derrick Ward is inactive making Cadilac Williams "the man" when it comes to running the ball for the Bucs today.

Kansas City receiver Dwayne Bowe is active and will have a busy, if not long, day against the Giants today. Watch back Larry Johnson struggle while backup Jamaal Charles should have a decent day for point-per-reception leagues as a receiver out of the backfield. The Chiefs will be playing catchup today and QB Matt Cassel could throw 50-55 times.

Just a hunch, but I see tight end Jeremy Shockey and receiver Devery Henderson having a huge day today against the Jets. The Jets should put theclamps on Marques Colston, allowing others to reap the benefits.
Good luck today and check this blog throughout the week for updates and insights...

FANTASY FB WEEK 4: PRE-GAME PLANNER

You have likely heard that Pittsburgh's Willie Parker is out with a turf toe injury.
All fantasy football experts are advising that you start backup Rashard Mendenhall in his place. Yes, Mendenhall will start.
But if you're hurting at RB and Mewelde Moore is aavailable on your waiver wire, grab him. Moore and Mendenhall wilol likely have a 50-50 split today and if Mendenhall struggles,Moore will reap the benefits. It's a slightly risky play, but one I am taking in one of the 11 leagues I'm in.

FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 4: PRE-GAME PLANNER-URGENT-WELKER PLAYING!

ESPN is reporting that New England receiver Wes Welker is active and will start for the Patriots today. Get him in your lineup because he will be used early and often as Tom Brady's security blanket against the tough Ravens defense.
ALSO...be advised Clinton Portis is active and will start. But he is not 100 percent and may not last the whole game. If you're hurting at running back and Portis' backup Ladell Betts is available, grab him. He should be goodfor10-20 points today.
Again, echoing my sentiments of Saturday's blog, expect big things from new Miami QB Chad Henne. Start receivers Ted Ginn Jr. and Davone Bess and tight end Anthony Fasano with confidence.
