Fantasy football: Hot waiver wire pickups

A week ago, it was Green Bay running back Brandon Jackson who was the hot guy off the waiver wire with starter Ryan Grant out for the season.

This week it's Denver receiver Demaryius Thomas, No. 88. The rookie has been hampered by foot injuries andmissed the first week of the season because of it. On Sunday against Seattle he had an impressive eight catches for 97 yards and a touchdown.

While some fantasy football sites are urging you to be cautious with Thomas since it was only one game, I'm telling you to grab this guy if he's on your waiver wire. He is supposed to be the next coming of Brandon Marshall in BroncosLand. The key item is the Broncos' schedule, which is quite favorable as the season progesses.

Other waiver wire guys to pick up are Houston receiver Kevin Walter, Jets tight end Dustin Keller if he's out there, Oakland receiver Louis Murphy, New England receiver Aaron Hernandez and Detroit tight end Brandon Pettigrew.

If you're looking for a kicker: if Houston's Neil Rackers is still available he's a double-digit fantasy production threat every week.

Fantasy football recap: Texans the hot team in Week 2

The Houston Texans certainly were the No. 1 team of the week when it comes to fantasy football production on Sunday with quarterback Matt Schaub, receivers Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter and running back Arian Foster all producing double-digit points.
Schaub had 497 yards passing and three touchdowns, Johnson had 12 receptions, 158 yards and one touchdown, Walter had 11 receptions, 144 yards and one touchdown and Foster had 69 yards rushing and three receptions for 69 yards.
Donovan McNabb was another quarterback with a solid week despite a losing effort for the Washington Redskins with 426 yards passing and a touchdown. Detroit rookie Jahvid Best of Detroit was a monster running back this weekend with 78 yards rushing, two rushing TDs, nine receptions, 154 yards receiving and one receiving TD.
Dustin Keller was the stud at tight end for the Jets with seven receptions for 115 yards and a touchdown.
The scary thing is all of these players have the potential to match these performances with their matchups/opponents in Week 3.
